Richard W. Forster

Dr. Forster is a native of Montreal, Quebec having graduated from McGill University Medical School and subsequently completing his orthopaedic residency at the Montreal General Hospital.

Dr. Forster’s practice is specialized in joint replacement having received additional training in joint replacement while undertaking a fellowship in England. He served as an overseas registrar at both the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Hospital, and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, England.

Dr. Forster is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also Board Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Clinical Instructor in Family Practice at Wright State University School of Medicine.

Dr. Forster's Health Care Team

Dr. Forster has a health care team that works with him to provide a high-quality health care experience. His team consists of a Physician Assistant, medical assistant / surgical scheduler, surgical technologist and secretary.

Harry A. “Chip” MacConnell, MPAS, PA-C, ATC has worked as Dr. Forster’s PA for the past nine years. He received his undergraduate degree in the Biological Sciences, and his sports medicine training from Wright State University. He has served as the head athletic trainer at Wittenberg and Central State universities. He received his Physician Assistant training at Kettering College of Medical Arts, and training at Kettering College of Medical Arts, and his master’s degree with a concentration in orthopaedic surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine. He is also licensed as an athletic trainer.

Carrie Smith, BS, ATC is Dr. Forster’s medical assistant / surgical scheduler. She received her undergraduate degree in athletic training and education from Wright State. Carrie is licensed as an athletic trainer, and has worked with Wright State University and Alter High School.

Stephen Temmesfeld, CST is Dr. Forster’s surgical technologist. Steve graduated from Sinclair’s surgical technology program. He was employed as a surgical technologist at Kettering Memorial Hospital prior to becoming a member of Dr. Forster’s private surgical team.

Kim Ross is Dr. Forter’s secretary. Kim is the first person you will talk to when scheduling an appointment. Kim has worked for Dr. Forster for eight years, and in the medical field for a total of sixteen years.

While Dr. Forster is the only surgeon on the team, we all work together to provide the best quality experience. A patient’s first contact is normally with Kim, who will schedule the appointment. Carrie will bring the patients to the exam room and obtain a brief history. Chip will perform the evaluation and discuss potential treatment options. Dr. Forster will review treatment options and perform any surgery if it is indicated. Chip also acts as Dr. Forster’s assistant in the operating room. Steve’s role is primarily in the operating room, where he acts as the surgery tech for Dr. Forster and Chip.
