Richard Forster, MD, FRCS, is an orthopedic surgeon with over 30 years of experience practicing in the Dayton area. Dr. Forster’s subspecialty is in hip and knee replacement surgery, and since 2000, he has performed over 10,000 joint replacements. He sees patients throughout Dayton, Miamisburg, Springboro, and Tipp City, Ohio, at Orthopaedic Institute of Dayton.
Dr. Forster received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He performed his orthopedic residency at the Montreal General Hospital.Following residency, Dr. Forster completed specialized training in joint replacement during a fellowship program in Exeter, England, at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopedic Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Dr. Forster is certified in orthopedic surgery, both by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Forster is on staff at Kettering Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital South, and Greater Dayton Surgical Center.
Sheela Patel, MPAS, M.Ed., PA-C, ATC has been Dr. Forster's Physician Assistant since 2012. She received her undergraduate degree in athletic training and sports medicine training from University of Cincinnati and her master's degree in sport administration from Xavier University. She has worked as an athletic trainer at the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, and Miami Valley Hospital prior to receiving her master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from Kettering College.
Christine Clegg, RN, CNOR is Dr. Forster's surgical nurse. Chris graduated from Sinclair Community College in 1985 with her Associate Degree in nursing. She earned her certification for professional achievement in Perioperative Nursing Practice (CNOR) in 2002. Chris has been assisting with total joint procedures and orthopaedic surgeries since 1996.
Kim Ross is Dr. Forster's secretary. Kim has worked for Dr. Forster since 1999. She can be reached at (937) 531-6703. She is in the office Monday and Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm, Tuesday and Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, and Wednesday 8:00am-4:30pm
